Work Reconditioning
We believe that “informal” work conditioning begins during our patients’ first few visits for physical therapy through education and exercise.
The program works to involve patients in the process of rebuilding their functional ability with the right tools. We make no assumption regarding any patient’s abilities, which allows us to start at ground zero with them and build upward. With application of the techniques and education we provide, return-to-work can be accomplished with success and a low incident rate of symptom re-occurrence.
The Program’s Foundation:
- Body mechanics and postural education for both home and work.
- Focus on positional alignment and technique.
- Flexibility exercise program (full body).
- Strengthening program with a core stabilization emphasis.
- Self-help management of symptoms (the why’s and how’s).
The Program’s Building Blocks:
We customize each conditioning program to parallel that of an individual’s actual job. Â Input from employers is always welcome regarding specific job demands.
- 1-8 hour job simulation/work conditioning program.
- Combination of actual work at job-site/work conditioning at clinic with graduated variable hours (i.e. 2:3, 4:2, 6:1 and then return-to-work.
- Job site analysis/coaching.
- Continued reinforcement of proper body mechanics and posture.
- Troubleshooting and the promotion of critical thinking.
